I suggest you ...

You've used all your votes and won't be able to post a new idea, but you can still search and comment on existing ideas.

There are two ways to get more votes:

  • When an admin closes an idea you've voted on, you'll get your votes back from that idea.
  • You can remove your votes from an open idea you support.
  • To see ideas you have already voted on, select the "My feedback" filter and select "My open ideas".

Enter your idea and we'll search to see if someone has already suggested it.

If a similar idea already exists, you can support and comment on it.

If it doesn't exist, you can post your idea so others can support it.

It is not currently possible to edit a Kudoz answer onece it is posted. For example, if the author makes a mistake in the translated term or a typo error, he can't go backwards...

    • Terminologie search gadget from Proz for Chrome

There is only gadget for Internet explorer and Firefox. Personally I use more Chrome (because think it is quicker). For those who use Chrome would be a good idea to have the gadget also for Chrome.

      • Do not allow the person to post new questions if he/she has more than XX posts in the following conditions:

If the asker has more than 10 or 20 posts left open for more than 7 days without choosing an answer or justifying it, they should not be allowed to make new posts/questions until they close the former posts. As mentioned by other users, there are people who post 50 questions and simply abandon them once they get a good suggestion.

        • List and number suggestions (answers) in chronological order TOP TO BOTTOM.

There are many, many very similar suggestions. Many times, the person adds a suggestion of level 4, changing one or two syllables, with level 5. Then that person is on top of the list, and ends up getting the "agrees". If they are in chronological order, top to bottom, at least the person who answered first will be on top and we will know who to agree with.

          • Left over questions in KudoZ, with cobwebs

Some questions, although correctly answered, never get graded. Heck, in my pair you can find open questions from more than a decade ago. I understand that ProZ does not want to push for questions, no matter how old, to be graded or to automatically close them unless there are sufficient agree's. While this has its merits, having perfectly well-answered KudoZ questions from 2001 open is neither fair to answerers nor exactly an image booster for the feature. I can see that several ideas have been raised which touched on this line of thought. Negative incentives have been suggested, i.e. disallow…

            • "Please reverse language pair" button

In KudoZ questions, in my pair at least, askers often accidentally and incorrectly chose the reverse language pair. This is especially a nuisance in my case because I am only subscribed to notifications in my pair and not in the reverse one... The current remedy is to fill out a support request, but unless someone has been really going and mis-selecting the pair, it's not worth the bother. Seeing as this is a standard issue requiring a straightforward solution, can we please have a single-click option to alert moderators when it happens?

              • Add a "Reverse pair" button in the Kudoz Term "advanced search" menu (or the possibility to save several search profiles).

This would help me, for instance, to switch more easily between the 3 "Answer questions" pages that I use (EN/DE > FR, FR>EN and FR>DE). I am referring to this URL (http://www.proz.com/kudoz/) and not to that
                one (http://www.proz.com/search/).

                • It would be great to select more than one target language. It's very useful for related languages.

Imagine there is no translation available in Spanish. You have to search again another combination (into French, Portuguese or Italian) and that's time consuming.
For my language combinations, Romanian-Spanish/Catalan, I have quite few Proz answers and I have to check French or English translations of the Spanish concept to get a clue about how it could be in Romanian.

                  • Resolved/clarified KudoZ terms are included in a dictionary of known tough or difficult terms

It could be a good idea to compile all KudoZ terms already resolved in an online dictionary available to members or anyone who wants to clarify a difficult term. As most of the KudoZ terms are hard to translate this might help colleague to speed up their translations and encourage cooperation among members.

                    • Allow multiple comments to form a branching 'thread' in kudoz responses

Currently, only one response from a kudoz grader and the answerer can show up. If you want to respond to the answerer, you have to then go up and add a 'discussion' despite the fact that you're responding to something on the answer itself.

I would like the option to be notified about questions in any of my working languages,no matter what the direction. My reasoning behind this request is as follows:
All my languages listed are used by me in my everyday personal and professional life. I have only recently decided to translate professionally.
I may be of help to someone by virtue of the experience I have gathered. I may be familiar with certain turns of phrase that will not immediately become obvious to a non-native speaker.
I feel restricted as well by the specialty and interest areas I selected. I may…

                            • Kudoz should not be used to reword Google Translate results.

One new user in particular has been maxing out their daily questions by posting entire paragraphs that have been run through Google Translate and then asking us to help reword (obviously the results are complete gibberish and there's no use trying to work with them). When I called a moderator to one of these questions, I was told that no rules were being broken. I do think this is a misuse of the forum, at least in spirit, and that it impacts negatively upon the quality of the site and upon the image of the profession. I don't think any…

                              • Add filtering criteria for askers

As far as I know, askers can be filtered out only by name (that is, one by one). There should also be a possibility of filtering by categories (I am thinking specifically of a questions answered/questions asked ratio, where the ratio value can be set by the potential answerer)

                                • It is necessary to check the repetitions

En el diccionario abierto Alemán-Español es necesario depurar la repetición de preguntas y respuestas provenientes de las mismas personas. A veces se repiten hasta 5 veces. Seguramente en otros pares de idiomas sucede lo mismo.

should not be merged in what concerns technical vocabulary. They are quite different. So questions, vocabulary (mainly the technical one) and similar subjects should be considered in separate.
