  1. Allow for images to be displayed in KudoZ questions and answers

It would be very useful if Askers on the KudoZ section of ProZ could use links so that diagrams/images could be displayed directly, without the need to open links.
See for instance the following case: http://www.proz.com/kudoz/english_to_romanian/aerospace_aviation_space/5296265-bellows_transfer_unit.html
The asker posted the problematic phrase, but the only context he provided was an image of a diagram.

  2. Update the interface

The existing one is pretty outdated and needs a facelift. ProZ appears to look more and more oldfashioned with every year passing. As we spend a lot of time here it would be great to see some modern design here.

  3. PROZ.com to decrease membership cost for language pairs that are not among "main" languages

It is much harder to find job in languages other than English to French, Italian, Spanish, German, Russian and other often used language pairs, so the membership fee should be lower for translators in other languages, in accordance with percentage of jobs posted in that pair (for example, my pair is French-Serbian, and there are almost never job postings!)

  4. Add an accepted payment method

Can you please add "TranslatorPay" to the payment methods accepted on translator profiles? For those who are unfamiliar with TranslatorPay, this is a service that allows translators to pay and get paid across currencies/borders without paying any bank or PayPal percentages or fees at the correct current exchange rate. 5. Improve search facilities for personal glossaries

Personal glossary entries are included in the term search, they are visible if you want to search through all 21000 of them, so they are not considered private data. I would like to be able to search not just for a term, but for a glossary or glossaries, for a given language pair, and a given area. Very often just searching on one term is not adequate, and being able to view the glossary itself is far more useful (related terms, etc.). Although I have only just started posting a glossary, I certainly assume it is meant to be useful…

  6. Require to be shown a (simple) company registration document for all outsourcers

You could make it mandatory for outsourcers to 1) write to you via snail-mail from whichever country and town they claim to be from (even an empty envelope, just to show the postal stamp; they'd at least need a live accomplice in that country), 2) include a simple registration certificate anyway (in some cases that can be a cheap certification that fits on 1 page, you might e.g. accept a photocopy signed by the owner/director if you prefer to avoid generating the cost of an official copy from the companies house), 3) at least require them to show you some…

  7. GlossPost: add rating and curating functionality to entries

I heard you folks were currently revising the architecture of the great link compilation of GlossPost, so here are some ideas:

    - Since external links can change or expire, wouldn’t it be good to have the crowd of users curate the collection? I think a feedback button where users can specify in a click whether an entry (link) is still up to date would be helpful to clean up the underlying database and enhance its quality.

    - Talking about curation, maybe the current options of personalising and saving personal settings can be expanded, so that each user can curate their…

  8. Direct, Up-Close Native <> Non-Native Speaker Integration, as well as Translators < > Professionals of All Areas

I suggested this a few years ago, so maybe it's been implemented already. I even tried togo ahead with it, but it seems the idea was not appealing to most people back then, especially translatorse. Even recently, the last time I tried to talk about it, the reaction was not enthusiastic:

    1) a system, a web site, a blog, a group, a sub-social network of some kind, focused on a direct, immediate integration of, for instance, a professional translator working on a technical translation into a target language of which he or she is not a native, with a native…

  9. A Favorites tab

A "Favorites" tab inside our profile to easily save and connect with preferred translators at any time.

  10. Invoice presentation to customer

Quantity and unit , though separately entered while making the invoice, in the copy sent to the customer, these are merged, so have problem at the customer end especially when a flat rate job is done. e.g
    EN>HI translation- 1minimum- $45.00- $45.00
    HI>EN transcription- 45minutes- $2.00- $90.00
This is not ok for the customer. So I have to make invoice ouside of "proz invoicing " manually and submit.

  11. When I make an entry in a glossary (say French to English) it seems I do not automatically get the reverse one (English to French). Is that

When I make an entry in a glossary (say French to English) it seems I do not automatically get the reverse one (English to French). Is that true or I am missing something ?

If it is true, why not build this opportunity in the system ?

    Thank you very much.

  12. Invoicing: allow sorting by recorded payment date.

Adding the ability to filter all payments recorded for a specific year or month (or a specific range) would make accounting that much easier.

  14. Allow grading of an outsourcer's screening practice and rates

A subsidiary of a very large and important global translation agency had the nerve of asking me to take an unpaid 19-page translation test amounting to a total of 3740 words (questions and other requirements not included) while at the same time offering me rates between USD 0.035 and 0.038.
I think that a BlueBoard feature that would allow rating a translation agency's screening/recruiting practice and rates offered would help us teach these very thick-skinned and opportunistic middlemen a lesson.

  15. re-design the ProZ website from scratch

ProZ.com is a genuinely useful resource which we at Cicero Translations use frequently. But in terms of design and ease of navigation it is truly dreadful. It puts us in mind of one of those jostling city centre thoroughfares so cluttered with competing signage that you cannot make head or tail of the directions. I was told about 5 years ago that a radical overhaul was at an advanced stage of planning, but the ship seems to have foundered...Is there any hope?

  17. More fairness in the translation contests by tagging only "I dislike"

I would like to point out that it should be interesting to improve the fairness for the next translation contests. The thing is that any idea comes to my mind now... but maybe some colleagues can provide solutions.

Who can ensure that some members are not asked to vote "I like" helping a colleague? "Hey, XXX, come and enter a positive tag on my translation, please. Thanks for the favour!"

As an example, I tried my first translation contest. While other translators receive two positive "I like" for terms used in their translation. I used exactly the same terms, but…

  18. Enable use of browniz for attending couses and otherwise payble features

Browniz show up very frequently at various places of translator's profile. However, even being so exposed to the viewer, they seem to be of no practical use to their owner whatsoever. I suggest to either give a substantial value to browniz, and therefore motivate members to be more active at the site contributing that way to it's quality, or just cancell the feature. This ay it doesn't seem to have much point.

  19. Under the ''Quick Poll'' tab on the right-hand side of the screen, add a ''last 2-3 polls'' tab or a ''Yesterday's Poll'' tab.

Sometimes the poll questions are quite interesting, and if on the following day you want to read-up on the comments it is very annoying to have to go to Member Activities> etc...

The polls are part of my morning coffee routine and it would be great to have this extra little tab.

  20. 'Reminder sent' status in invoicing

This is related to invoicing. We currently have options: open, closed, past due. When an invoice is past due, if you want to be paid, you send a reminder. So, it would be helpful to have the additional status 'reminder sent'.
