force open questions to be closed before accepting new ones (allowing for total number/time)
all types of problems with the kudoz-system, some apperaring solvable, some not... i for one have a problem with askers who ask and never close - if only because i want to know what became of the term. quite simple solution to this coiuld be to keep a count of the number of questions that have received answers and been open for at least, say, 2 weeks. if this number exceeds, say, 10, then the asker will be asked to close at least one question before asking a new one. this should be a far more powerful reminder then receiving… more

to force the askers to add context
Some askers add a word or a couple without "any" context, so it's impossible to help them. Last example i've seen: someone have asked for help to translate Binder Market, without any other help...

add negative points to non-sense answers in Kudoz
I have noticed that some people answer to all the questions in Kudoz (maybe they live on them) and quite often they suggest very obvious but wrong translations. Sometimes this also leads to very discussion with other answerers, which are just useless and time-consuming. Therefore I suggest to allow asker to add negative points to these obviously wrong answers in order to limit useless and/or counter-productive contributions

put the answers on KudoZ to a vote by the qualified ProZ community to select the best answer.
Sometimes the askers select wrong answers on KudoZ. I suggest that when any of the respondents believes that the wrong answer has been selected be entitled to put all given answers to a vote by the qualified members of the ProZ community, say, those having at least 8 or 12 KudoZ points.

Kudoz points for useful references
This is an alternative to splitting kudoz points between two or three answerers. It could be 1-2 for reference that is accepted as useful (parallel to existing kudoz answers system). The purpose is to shift the "low confidence" answers into references. Also they're backed with links to prove reliability (no throwing several words w/o examples).
Several times browsing questions I've seen some really useful references that were voted for.
For example, with penalties for wrong answers and no penalties for refs it can improve total quality.48 votes -
Add a filter to know when someone contacts only you or sends a massive message
Sometimes we receive an e-mail from a company and we don´t know if they contacted us exclusively asking for collaboration of if it was a massive e-mail for 100 other translators. It would be very helpful there was any indication whether the sender asked X other people.
Sometimes we are busy doing some work and if we know that a customer contacted us directly we can bother to answer them but if it was a massive mail we will just ignore and hope someone else with more time can get the job.

Copied answers should not be allowed
Moderators should have the authority to remove repeated answers. Changes like the definite article, preposition, capitalizing a letter and obvious synonyms, etc are not worth posting a new answer. These should be suggestions to existed answers. Kudoz pages are full of copied answers. Many would not even try to answer until another translator posts and then they insert a simple change and post it as a “New” answer. Worse than this, others may agree on copied answers and skip the original; this is totally unfair and discourages the hard work and research.

stop people from asking more questions than they answer
Wouldn't that be a simple way of weeding out the freeloaders?
Alternatively, automatically display an asker's asked/answered ratio34 votes -
create a way for Asker's to 'wake up' a dormant question in order to sollicit new answers
To avoid people desperately re-posting questions, it would be helpful if there was a button etc. that would enable one to 'wake-up' questions — for example, by sending out fresh notifications; there is a cheat workaround, by changing the language pairs, but that's not really kosher!

Stop censoring innocent remarks made on KudoZ. Rules are there to facilitate not for nit-picking.
Too many times on KudoZ one sees moderators removing comments to answers or discussion entries when there is no real need. KudoZ is a place for real people, so it is not inappropriate or distracting if users make occasional comments about use of KudoZ or just brief friendly banter. Posts suggesting that errant answers be removed and a corrected version posted are now removed. Before long, a simple "hello" is going to be construed as an inappropriate non-language comment and edited out. It's getting a bit much now. Pedantic, over-zealous applications of well-meaning rules are not in the interest of… more

change the criteria to mark a question as a "non-pro".
"Non pro" means not professional, not obvious. It is clear that any bilingual person must know the meaning of "water" without using a dictionary, but a professional must also know some terms above "ground zero".

users should go by their real name
ProZ is a website like no other. And the difference is made by the individuals who participate in it. This is a community of professionals who put their reputation on the line every time they answer. Visit any other website and you'll see most users go by a nickname, they rather be anonymous; they don't want you to know who they are. But there's something wrong about a neighbor / colleague / friend, who doesn't want others to know his/her real name. It isn't a healthy relationship. I don't think that's the spirit of Proz.
It's all about trust and… more15 votes -
glossary
Please add an option for found translation, definition and/or translation in a printed source or source. I find it very omitting to be able to notice only internet sources. There are many good sources which too should be taken in account.

, as an engineer, to add Ajax on kudos search (like google)
Add a suggestion algohoritm that uses Ajax tecnology for suggesting database terms entries. I'm science of information engineer, this is not so difficult to do..

Add a "type of word" field in the "ask question" (and glossaries)
Since the same word can work in different ways (take home, for example: it can be a noun, an adjective, a verb and even an adverb), I suggest you add a "type of word" field in the "ask question" form, and of course, in the glossaries. This way, it will be much easier to look for terms.
Also, if this suggestion were to be implemented, I would suggest that a request is sent to all the users so they can add the category of their glossary terms.10 votes -

directory results ranking must consider the most active KodoZ members in the last 3 months
directory results ranking must consider the most active KodoZ members in the last 3 months not all times. It is better to ensure that the results show the most active members in the recent time. At least the most active members in the last 3 months must have priority in directory ranking.

auto-add to personal glossary
When I ask a proz question, select an answer and suggest/edit it for the global glossary, I would like it to be automatically added to my glossary. Now I have to always select Gloss, Add entry to my glossaries, and click on my glossary, which is a useless and time-consuming process.
